ELMS - 21/07/2018 - Jeff CARTER
Rain started to fall steadily after 20 minutes, with the session being declared wet by the race director Eduardo Freitas. Drivers headed to the pitlane to fit wet tyres as the track conditions started to get tricky. The times for the rest of the session were unable to match the first 20 minutes and the positions remained unchanged until the chequered flag.
In LMP3 the top car was the no15 RLR MSport Ligier Nissan, with Job Van Uitert setting a 1m27.176 lap, 0.6 seconds ahead of the no19 M.Racing-YMR Norma David Droux, with the no2 United Autosports Ligier of Sean Rayhall in 3rd, 1.3 seconds adrift of the class leader.
Matt Griffin in the no55 Spirit of Race Ferrari was the quickest of the six LMGTE entries. The Monza race winner posted 1m29.845 lap early in the session, which was just over one tenth of a second ahead of the no77 Proton Competition Porsche driven by Dennis Olsen, with the no80 Ebimotors Porsche third quickest with Fabio Babini setting a 1m30.051, just 0.029s behind the second placed Porsche.
