ELMS Official Test Complete, Let the Racing Begin

The second and final day of the 2019 ELMS Official Test at Le Castellet saw most of the 41 competitors take to the track to finalise their set ups ahead of the 4 Hours of Le Castellet on Sunday 14 April.

Anders Fjordbach remained the fastest driver of the two day test with the 1m40.404 lap he set during the two hour evening session on Monday.  However two drivers ran him close on Tuesday with the no37 Cool Racing Oreca of Nico Lapierre setting the fastest time of day two, a 1m40.432, just 0.028 seconds slower than the Fjordbach’s time.   

The no21 Dragonspeed Oreca of Ben Hanley also came close to bettering the best time with the British driver posting a 1m40.457, just 0.053 seconds behind.  The only other driver to set a 1 minute 40 second lap was Paul Loup Chatin in the no28 Idec Sport Oreca, the French driver setting a 1m40.747 in the first 4-hour session on Monday.

The no10 Oregon Team Norma-Nissan was once again the quickest of the LMP3 class with Damiani Fioravanti setting the fastest lap of the day, a 1m49.887 in the morning session.  However the fastest lap of the two day test was still the 1m49.500 that Fioravanti set in the third session on Day One. 

The No17 Ultimate Norma was the second fastest car of the two days, with Matthieu Lahaye setting a 1m50.240, nearly four tenths ahead of Jean-Baptiste Lahaye in the same car.  The no7 Nielsen Racing Norma of Colin Noble was third fastest, the Scot just 0.022s behind the second Lahaye.

The no60 Kessel Racing Ferrari ended the two day test as the fastest of the LMGTE category, with the no51 Luzich Racing F488 just one tenth behind.  Andrea Piccini set the best time of 1m53.288 on day one, with Nicklas Nielsen just 0.123s behind.  On Day Two Claudio Schiavoni was quickest in the no60 Ferrari, with the third fastest time overall of 1m53.603, with Alessandro Pier Guidi finishing the day as the fastest driver in the final session and fourth fastest overall in the no51 Ferrari with a 1m53.972.
