The no28 IDEC Sport Oreca was the quickest of the 39 cars with Paul Loup Chatin setting the best lap of 1m33.097, two tenths ahead of the no21 DragonSpeed Oreca and 0.5 seconds in front of the 2018 champions elect in the no26 G-Drive Racing Oreca.
Chatin’s time was 0.251 seconds slower than the best time set in yesterday’s Free Practice 1, a lap of 1m32.846 set by Pierre Ragues in the no29 Duqueine Engineering Oreca.
The LMP3 category was headed by the no19 M Racing-YMR Norma with Lucas Légeret posting a 1m40.145 lap, 0.411 seconds ahead of Mikkel Jensen in the no9 AT Racing Ligier. The championship leading car, the no15 RLR M Sport Ligier and the third placed car, the no3 United Autosports Ligier, decided to sit out the session, with both cars and drivers ready for this afternoon’s qualifying session ahead of tomorrow’s 4 Hours of Portimão.
The championship leading no88 Proton Competition Porsche was the quickest car in the LMGTE category with Matteo Cairoli setting a 1m41.786 lap, two tenths ahead of the no66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari.
Qualifying for the 4 Hours of Portimão will take place this afternoon, Saturday 27 October, at 14h25 local time.
