EXCITEMENT ALL THE WAY IN THE FIRST 90 MINUTES OF THE 3 HOURS OF IMOLA

The 3 Hours of Imola has provided non stop action for the first half of the race and rain has been reported on parts of the track to add another element into who will prove to be victorious at the end of the second round of 2013 European Le Mans Series. 

The lead of the race is being held by the nr1 Thiriet by TDS Racing Oreca Nissan of Pierre Thiriet but is closely followed by the nr38 Jota Sport Zytek Nissan of Simon Dolan, which had started on pole position. 

The LMPC leader is the nr49 Team Endurance Challenge FLM Oreca of Paul Loup Chatin which has led from the start of the race.

  The LMGTE battle is still being led by the nr52 RAM Racing Ferrari of Matt Griffin, while the GTC class leader is the nr69 SMP Racing Ferrari, now in the hands of Fabio Babini

30 MINUTE REPORT

30 minutes into the 3 Hours of Imola and the top 3 are split by just 1.7 seconds with Oliver Turvey (38 Jota Sport) ahead of Brendon Hartley (18 Murphy Prototypes) and Matthias Beche (1 Thiriet by TDS Racing). Gary Hirsch (47 Team Endurance Challenge) is leading LMPC, Matt Griffin (52 RAM Racing Ferrari) is leading LMGTE by just 0.3s ahead of Patrick Long (67 IMSA Performance Porsche). Peter Kox (nr60 Kox Racing Lamborghini) is leading GTC 8 seconds ahead of Kirill Ladygin (69 SMP Racing Ferrari). 

60 MINUTE REPORT

After the first hour there has been a change for the lead following the first pitstops. Matthias Beche now leads in the nr1 Thiriet by TDS Racing, six seconds ahead of Oliver Turvey in the nr38 Jota Sport. Brendon Hartley handed over the 18 Murphy Prototypes to Mark Patterson at the stop but the car failed to fire up straight away, dropping them from 2nd to 7th. Gary Hirsch is still the runaway leader in LMPC in 11th overall. The great battle between Matt Griffin (52 RAM Racing Ferrari) and Patrick Long (67 IMSA Performance Porsche) continues to rage, both cars haven't stopped yet. Peter Kox (60 Kox Racing Lamborghini) came in from the lead in the GTC class to hand over to Nico Pronk at the same time as second place Kirill Ladygin (69 SMP Racing Ferrari) but the two cars were leapfrogged by the nr72 SMP Racing Ferrari of Maurizio Mediani, with Viktor Shaitar (nr69 SMP Ferrari) in second and Nico Pronk in 3rd 

90 MINUTE REPORT

After 90 minutes the second set of stops are happening for the leading LMP2 cars as they hand over to their co-drivers. Matthias Beche came in to hand over to Pierre Thiriet (1 Thiriet by TDS Racing) and a lap later Oliver Turvey pitted in the nr38 Jota Sport to hand over to Simon Dolan. Gary Hirsch also pitted in the last 30-minutes to hand over the leading LMPC car to Paul Loup Chatin. Matt Griffin is still leading the LMGTE class after the earlier problem, 68 seconds ahead of the second RAM Racing Ferrari of Frank Montecalvo. The GTC Class leader is the 69 SMP Racing Ferrari of Viktor Shaitar.
