The sun was shining for the first session of the weekend at the Red Bull Ring with 29 cars taking part in the first of two 90-minute Free Practice sessions.

 The session was stopped for a short while after the no5 Villorba Corse Ginetta-Nissan of Roberto Lacorte went off into the barriers at the entrance to Turn 2.  After the car was recovered the session resumed with 23 minutes left on the clock.

The no38 JOTA Sport Gibson-Nissan was the quickest car in the opening session of the day with a time of 1m23.538, just ahead of Greaves Motorsport Gibson-Nissan.  The race winning Oreca 05-Nissan run by Thiriet by TDS Racing was third quickest, less than 0.5 seconds behind the JOTA Sport Gibson.

The no3 Team LNT Ginetta-Nissan was the quickest LMP3 car with a 1m31.155 lap.  The quickest LMGTE runner was the no51 AF Corse Ferrari with a 1m30.333, 0.4 seconds ahead of the Austrian team AT Racing’s Ferrari 458.  The TDS Racing BMW Z4 was the quickest GTC class car with a 1m32.236 lap of the 4.3km Red Bull Ring circuit.

The second Free Practice session will get underway at 14h40 (CET) this afternoon.
