Electricity on track in the Le Mans Series

ELMS - 18/04/2011

At the Le Castellet 6 Hours, the journalists present to follow the first 2011 Le Mans Series race were able to climb onboard the Tesla Electric, a top-of-the-range sports car with zero emissions...

The Tesla Roadster's engine is 100% electric and it is a trail-blazer in the field of sports models. The car developed in collaboration with Lotus puts out around 290 bhp and it showed blindingly-quick acceleration from the end of the pit lane. It reaches 100 kpm in 3.7s and provides thrilling sensations on the track. The car's autonomy has been increased from 360 to 400 km between two recharges. According to the wattage the time taken to recharge the batteries can vary from 3 to 17 hours.

Several journalists present were able to go for a run in the roadster to fully appreciate its stunning performance and they found themselves travelling at 200 kpm in total silence in the Tesla! This operation aimed at spreading the renown of the electric roadster will continue at Spa-Francorchamps. Endurance racing, the laboratory of energy saving in motor sports, has reaffirmed its values by presenting a model that is the pioneer of many more to come.
