Dragonspeed Head the Field in First Practice

The no21 Dragonspeed Oreca of Nico Lapierre, Ben Hanley and Henrik Hedman topped the timing sheets at the end of the first 90-minute free practice session ahead of this weekend’s 4 Hours of Monza. It was Hanley who set the fastest time, posting a 1m35.284 lap of the 5.793km Monza circuit, 0.695s ahead of Roman Rusinov in the no26 G-Drive Racing Oreca.

Italian manufacturer Dallara was third quickest with the no49 High Class Racing P217 with Anders Fjordbach at the wheel posting a 1m37.275 lap, 0.124s ahead of Round 1 winners Race Engineering.

The LMP3 category was headed by the no10 Oregon Team Norma M30 with Riccardo Ponzio posting the best time of 1m46.136.  It was a Norma 1-2 with the no19 M Racing-YMR of David Droux just 0.107s behind the lead car.

The no88 Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR was the quickest of the six LMGTE entries with former FIA WEC World Cup Champion Gianmaria Bruni taking the top spot with a 1m48.457 lap of his home track.  Bruni’s time was 0.448s ahead of the no83 Krohn Racing Ferrari F488 of fellow Italian and former FIA GT1 World Champion Andrea Bertolini.

Free Practice 2 will begin at 09h15 tomorrow morning.
