ELMS - 12/07/2015
The first 120 minutes of racing saw two safety car periods that saw the comfortable lead that poleman Filipe Albuquerque had built up in the JOTA Sport Gibson completely negated but the Portuguese driver was able to regain the advantage after each restart.
The situation in LMGTE was equally exciting when the pole position car of Aaron Scott was put to the back of the grid for a technical infringement involving the fuel used in qualifying. The British driver then had to drive through the field and after nearly 30 minutes into the race he took the LMGTE lead after passing the AT Racing Ferrari of Alexander Talkanitsa Jr. Scott handed the car over to Duncan Cameron. The LMGTE lead was held by the no66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari of Sam Tordoff, with former World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx in the MarcVDS BMW Z4 in second place.
In LMP3 the advantage of starting from pole position was maximised by Charlie Robertson in the no3 Team LNT Ginetta-Nissan and when the young Scot came in to hand over to Chris Hoy he held a very comfortable advantage over their nearest class rival. The no15 SVK by Speed Factory spent several laps in the garage after the rear bodywork came off the car after Konstantin Calko ran wide at the last corner, causing further damage before Calko could get back to the pits.
In GTC the no59 TDS Racing BMW Z4 of Dino Lunardi held a one lap advantage at the end of the first two hours, while pole position holder Francesco Castellacci in the no62 AF Corse Ferrari was trying to close the gap to the leading Frenchman.
