Hoy’s Dream Drive

ELMS - 14/04/2016

British Olympic cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy will being his LMP2 career this weekend at the 4 Hours of Silverstone and will culminate in his dream of racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June with Algarve Pro Racing.

After winning the inaugural LMP3 title in 2015 the 40-year-old Scot is moving up a class and will race with the Portuguese team at Silverstone and Imola in the European Le Mans Series in the team’s Nissan powered Ligier JS P2 alongside fellow Brit Michael Munemann and India’s Parth Ghorpade.

“I’ve settled into the car really quickly and I’ve really enjoyed it.  I’m still learning the LMP2 car, it is a lot pointier than the previous P2 car I drove and I know there is more to come.  In many ways the P3 car was a harder car to drive, not as quick but not far off it.  The P2 seems more planted, more intuitive and more balanced and I don’t think a move from GT to LMP2 would be too big a move to make.

“My goal since I started racing was to drive at Le Mans.  I took part in the test day last year and it was a great experience and now I am looking forward to racing in the 24 Hours with Algarve Pro Racing and Nissan. But first we have to race at Silverstone, something I am really looking forward to.”
