Benoit Morand awarded man of the year in 2014 ELMS

Benoit Morand is a man of passion, patience, originality and also a pioneer, with the first hybrid LM P1 prototype ever entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2011. After a race debut in the LMPC category, NewBlood by Morand Racing rapidly made a reputation as one of the most consistent teams in the LM P2 grid with the #43 Morgan-Judd BMW with Dunlop tyres, with one overall victory and five podium finishes in the ELMS. The two Le Mans starts of the Swiss team also received the chequered flag.

Another ethics of Benoit Morand is to keep a family-like atmosphere in his team, with his wife, drivers, engineers and mechanics (a.k.a “the guys”), in the continuation of the work of his father Louis, a renowned engine manufacturer in the 1960s and 70s. After the first victory and third position in the final standings of the 2014 ELMS, this award is the best omen NewBlood by Morand Racing could dream of to prepare the next challenges of the 2015 season.

It is a fantastic reward for all the team and for me, because I made many sacrifices through the years, and so did a lot of people around me. This motivates me to do even better with all the passion I have to build the future upon solid bases, so that all the people who helped can benefit too. I would like to thank all the people who supported me, all the guys for their tremendous job, and most of all share this award with my wife Gladys who is always there. She is my other half and it is so great to share this together.”
