At home with Manuela Gostner

Where are you confined since the last few weeks?
I’m at home in Caldaro (Italy) which is a very small village in the heart of the Alps. This place is actually just 300km from Milano, but it’s a much safer place. I live in a house out of the village very close to the forest with quite a big garden so fortunately I have still lots of space to move even if I can’t go anywhere.

What do you do all day long, at home?
I have 2 daughters (12 and 8) and 2 dogs so I have to take care of them, and I also try to work out. Schools are closed, so I have to be a teacher for the kids most of the day. But I must say there are also some things I appreciate being at home. I am able to focus on so many things I usually never have time for. I can read books, select pictures, design a new livery for the helmet, be with my kids…but obviously I miss racing, working, and going out for Aperitivo with friends a lot!

How do you stay fit and train for when the racing season will start?
I bought some small fitness items and I use a bike trainer to stay fit. I have a coach which gives me advises from his home, which exercises to do…I like doing sport a lot and being in shape. But the biggest challenge for me at home is not to work out, but not to eat too much. Unfortunately, I have too much time for making delicious food and cakes.

What did you learn since the beginning of the confinement? 
I think a lot about how we take many things for granted. Next time I will have a glass of wine with my friends in a wonderful place, or I will go for a ride with my Triumph Bonneville in the mountains, or I will take a plane to join the next round of the ELMS with the Irondames, I will do that with a different awareness.
