Anthony Davidson: “Tomorrow will be a whole different ballgame!”

ELMS - 02/07/2011

Anthony Davidson gave the Peugeot 908 its maiden pole position on its first outing in the Sebring 12 Hour and he repeated this performance at Imola. The British driver is expecting a tough race tomorrow against the Audis in the thick of the traffic.

“Today it was another very tight battle between Peugeot and Audi,” he acknowledges. “We played it well during qualifying. We wanted to be first out on the track. In the opening laps I took care to bring the tyres up to their optimal working temperature. The car had enough diesel on board to keep running throughout the whole session to avoid being caught out by the traffic or a red or yellow flag. It was exactly the right strategy to go for the fastest lap.”

His team-mate, Sébastien Bourdais, will start from pole and should be in a fairly well-protected position in the opening laps. “It'll be a whole different ballgame tomorrow,” says Davidson. “We have to try and stay out of trouble. The toughest part is yet to come.”
