In the second practice session the no22 United Autosport Oreca was nearly four tenths ahead of Will Stevens in the no23 Panis Barthez Competition Oreca, with the no25 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca Of Olivier Pla one tenths slower in third.
Title contenders IDEC Sport were fifth fastest and half a second ahead of championship leaders G-Drive Racing, the no26 Auris finishing 8th fastest.
In LMP3 it was the no19 M Racing Norma of Lucas Légeret in top spot, the Swiss driver setting a 1m40.813, just 0.006s ahead of championship leaders Eurointernational, with Mikkel Mac posting the second fastest time of the 90-minute session in the no11 Ligier. The title challengers, Nigel Moore and Martin Hippe finished 6th fastest in class, 1.1 seconds behind the top two cars.
The no77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche of Matteo Cairoli was the fastest car in the LMGTE category with the Italian posting a 1m42.077, six tenths fastest than the best time set in FP1. The no88 Proton Competition Porsche was second fastest, 0.107s behind the lead car, with the no66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari third quickest.
Qualifying for the 4 Hours of Portimão will take place later today at 15h40.
