AF Racing Hit Top Spot in Free Practice

Under blue skies but with a strong wind blowing across the Circuit Paul Ricard, the all Russian AF Racing team took the top spot on the timing sheets for the first 90-minute Free Practice session for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet. The Nissan powered BR01 of Mikhail Aleshin, Kirill Ladygin and Victor Shaytar posted a 1m47.986 lap, just 0.149s slower than last year’s pole position time. The Russians were two tenths of a second ahead of the no38 Murphy Prototyes ORECA 03R of Nathanael Berthon, Michael Lyons and Mark Patterson and 0.8 seconds ahead of the no41 Greaves Motorsport Gibson-Nissan of Gary Hirsch, Bjorn Wirdheim and Jon Lancaster.

In LMP3 the two Team LNT Ginetta’s led the way with the no2 car of Michael Simpson and Gaetan Paletou 0.7 seconds quicker than their teammates in the no3 Ginetta – Chris Hoy and Charlie Robertson.

The no51 AF Corse Ferrari 458 of Matteo Cressoni, Andrea Bertolini and Peter Mann was the quickest car in the LMGTE class with a 1m57.167, 0.211 seconds ahead of the no56 AT Racing Ferrari of Alessandro Pierguidi and father and son duo Alexander Talkanitsa Senior and Junior.  The Marc VDS BMW Z4 was third quickest in LMGTE, just 0.231 slower than the fastest Ferrari.

In GTC the fastest entrant was the no59 TDS Racing BMW Z4 of Franck Perera, Dino Lunardi and Eric Dermont who were 1.8 seconds ahead of their nearest rivals, the no68 Massive Motorsport Aston Martin of Casper Elgaard, Kristian Poulsen and Simon Moller.
