ELMS - 11/02/2010

Jean Alesi, F1 racing driver for 11 years with 201 races will take part in the 2010 Le Mans Series season. As you may know, the French racing driver will be at the steering wheel, of the Ferrari F430 GT in the Team AF Corse. For this seventh Le Mans Series season; he will race with Toni Vilander & Giancarlo Fisichella, a reserve driver for the Scuderia Ferrari.

Jean Alesi was kind enough to answer our questions.

LMS to J.A: « How did you get the opportunity to participate in the championship Le Mans Series? »

J.A: «The discussions with the Team AF Corse began last year, when I was in the Emirates for a Speedcar Series event. Amato Ferrari allowed me to take part in a test on one of the team's Ferraris. This test took place at the Fiorano circuit last October and went very well. I was really happy to be at the steering wheel of this car!»

LMS to J.A: « How did you feel behind the steering wheel of the Ferrari F430? »

J.A: «I felt very comfortable, very confident because the car is easy to drive, very well balanced. This test was very decisive and I had lots of pleasure to doing it.»

LMS to J.A: «How do you feel at the beginning of this new season?»

J.A: «Le Mans Series is a new championship for me and I am going to need to take new marks but I am lucky to be with in the Team AF Corse, a very experimented Team!

I am surrounded by big champions in this category; I am going to share the steering wheel with my friend Giancarlo, a great racing driver so I should quickly find my feet! »

LMS to J.A: «How do you feel about starting the Le Mans Series season where you started your career in F1, and very close to Avignon, your native city?

J.A: «It is a great combination of circumstances! To start the Le Mans Series season at the Paul Ricard circuit, it is like a return to the roots, and it is a nice flashback to my career in F1.

And it's true; the Paul Ricard circuit is not very far from Avignon, so my friends and fans will be able to come and support me! »

LMS to J.A: «Several car manufacturers will be in the GT2 category, the battle is going to be very fierce. With Ferrari, is the objective to win back the GT2 Title this year?»

J.A: «It is a privilege to be with a so titled and so successful structure; naturally, the objective is to win back the title in the GT2 category at the end of the season.»

LMS à J.A: «You're going to share the steering wheel with Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander, a remarkable trio and a powerful upcoming team?»

J.A: «Giancarlo is a good friend and sharing the steering wheel is very exciting because we know each other quite well. To be honest, I do not know Toni Vilander very well for the moment but he is nice and very approachable. I am sure that we all are going to have a fascinating season in Le Mans Series! »

And to finish, Jean Alesi accepted to play the Chinese portrait game. Unusual questions and immediate answers of a racing driver ready to face one of the world's most demanding disciplines!
