The no24 Racing Engineering Oreca of Paul Petit is leading the race, with the no36 Signatech Alpine Matmut Alpine A470 of Andre Negrao in second and Nelson Panciatici in the no29 Duqueine Engineering Oreca in third.
The DragonSpeed Oreca had been running at the front of the field, leading for the first part of the race with Nicolas Lapierre, before Hedman running in the top three before the crash. Pole position holder Memo Rojas in the no28 IDEC Sport Oreca slowed early in the race and is now running in 8th place.
The LMP3 category is being led by the no15 RLR MSport Ligier of John Farano after Job Van Uitert built up a big lead in the LMP3 class after the Dutchman got a great start. The no2 United Autosports Ligier of John Falb is second ahead of the no11 Eurointernational Ligier of Kay Van Berlo.
The LMGTE class is being led behind the safety car by the no66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari of Liam Griffin, but the class of the field is the no88 Proton Competition Porsche 911 of Gianluca Roda in second after Giorgio Roda pitted to hand the car back to his father under the Full Course Yellow. The Porsche had led for most of the first two hours. The no86 Gulf Racing Porsche of Ben Barker had been leading the class but a fuel pressure issue brought the hard charging 911 to a halt.
