4 Hours of Silverstone: Post-race reactions (LMP3)

Garett Grist – United Autosports – n°3 Ligier JS P3– LMP3 winner

“That was certainly my best stint in the ELMS, the starts in these races are always very tight, I managed to steer clear of the mayhem and use the gaps that opened up, fourth to second on the first lap but could see that the leader was pushing very hard, perhaps a bit too hard. We’d talked about strategy, in particular tyre management, and this was a great example of why that proved to be important, I was immediately into tyre management, making sure I wasn’t overly aggressive but keeping up the pace. I could see the car ahead was leaving black marks everywhere and sure enough he was struggling by the end of the stint and I could hand over to Matt in sight of the lead.”

"It was good, but we were surprised we didn't catch the leader as quickly. We struggled a little for pace, but the team did an amazing job to keep us in the race. It was an awesome performance, from Christian and Colin too. It was a good race, but we look ahead, we will get a win at Spa."

John Farano – RLR MSport – n°15 Ligier JS P3 – 6th LMP3

“The aim this weekend was to consolidate our championship lead and achieve points. We’re obviously disappointed with the overall result because we were hoping for a little more coming into the event, but we’ve extended our lead and it’s positive going to Spa, where I expect we will be much stronger. Collecting points will be the approach for the remaining two rounds of the season at Spa and in Portimao. To get two wins from the first three races in the European Le Mans Series is quite good and we decided after our most recent victory at the Red Bull Ring to focus on finishing in the points, rather than taking risks. If we get a third or fourth at Spa, we will be right there for the season finale.”
